    La masiva producción de neumáticos, así como su posterior almacenamiento después de su utilización constituye un grave problema medioambiental al que se pretende dar salida con diversas soluciones. Una de ellas pasa por mezclar estos neumáticos reutilizados (Ground Tire Rubber GTR) con diversos polímeros termoplásticos y termoestables, siendo esta opción la analizada en el presente trabajo, la cual tiene como objetivo obtener materiales aislantes adecuados para la industria eléctrica a partir de la mezcla del poliestireno (PS) con neumáticos fuera de uso. Como exigencia principal se ha partido de unos costos mínimos de reciclado, es decir, mediante el uso del GTR sin desvulcanizar y sin ningún pretratamiento previo con ácidos, pero en cambio actuando sobre la concentración y tamaños de partículas del GTR, la cual se ha realizada mediante una forma sencilla y económica como es el tamizado. Con este fin se han realizado análisis dieléctricos, mecánicos, térmicos y de la microestructura con un gran número de compuestos, que se han obtenido utilizando los tres tamaños de partículas del GTR (p<200µm, 200500µm), y las siete concentraciones con las que se han formado los compuestos (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50% y 70% en GTR). Todos estos datos han permitido una caracterización precisa de las propiedades de los nuevos compuestos y, de acuerdo con estos resultados y las Normativas vigentes, se han obtenido las posibles aplicaciones eléctricas de los compuestos.

    Mass production of tires and their subsequent storage after use are serious environmental problems that are being tried to be solved in various ways. One of these is the mixture of these old used tires [ground rubber tire (GTR)] with various thermoplastic and thermostable polymers. The present work aimed to obtain materials suitable for the electric industry from the mixture of polystyrene (PS) with old used tires (GTR), starting from the requirement of minimum recycling costs, i.e., by using vulcanized GTR without any prior treatment but acting on the particle sizes with a simple and inexpensive screening. In order to do so, dielectric, mechanical, thermal, and microstructure analyses were performed for a large number of compounds, which were obtained using three GTR particle sizes (p<200 mu m, 200 mu m500 mu m) and seven concentrations of GTR in the compound (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50%, and 70%). All these data have allowed an accurate characterization of the properties of the new compounds, and according to these results, possible electrical applications have been explored.

These blends are made by modifying the pretreatment the GTR is subjected to, the degree of devulcanization, the mixing or pressing conditions, etc. Later the mixtures are analyzed structurally and mechanically, looking for possible industrial applications for them. The present work aims to obtain materials suitable for the electric industry from the mixture of polyamide with old used tires (GTR), starting from the requirement of minimum recycling costs, that is using vulcanized GTR without any prior treatment but acting on the particle sizes with a simple and inexpensive screening. A novelty of this study is the large number of compounds analyzed, and the deep analysis these have been submitted to dielectric, mechanical, thermal and microstructure analyses to get a large number of variables in each test. Compounds were categorized as the three GTR particle sizes (p < 200 µm, 200 < p < 500 µm and p > 500 µm) and seven concentrations of GTR (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50% and 70%), resulting in a total of 21 new compounds. In addition, in order to have the dielectric tests as much exhaustive as possible and to show the behavior of the compound under widely changing conditions, a wide range of temperatures (30¿120°C) and frequencies (1 × 10-2 Hz to 3 × 106 Hz) were taken into consideration. All these data have provided an accurate characterization of the properties of the new compounds, and according to these results, possible electrical applications have been explored, with the requirement that they must comply with official regulations.

    En la reducción del ruido producido por maquinaria industrial, normalmente, se utilizan ciertas técnicas de reducción de ruido denominadas pasivas. Estas técnicas pueden aplicarse directamente sobre la fuente (uso de amortiguadores, silenciadores y de cerramientos), en el camino de transmisión (como aislamientos, pantallas, materiales de absorción y resonadores acústicos), o en el receptor (como el acondicionamiento acústico de locales o protectores auditivos). El problema de estas técnicas es que son poco efectivas para frecuencias graves y en las dificultades de ventilación de las máquinas en casos de cerramientos o en la aparición de pérdidas de carga en el caso de los silenciadores. En esta tesis se aplica una técnica diferente a la de tipo pasivo, denominada control activo de ruido, centrando su uso en el campo de la maquinaria industrial. El control activo se basa en la atenuación o eliminación de una onda sonora por interferencia destructiva. Aunque actualmente el control activo de ruido se utiliza comercialmente en algunas aplicaciones como tubos de ventilación, elementos de protección auditiva personal, cabinas de aviones¿, es poco utilizado en naves industriales donde las máquinas suelen emitir ruido grave y fuertemente tonal, lo que a priori son las condiciones idóneas para la utilización de dicho control.El problema consiste en que la maquinaria industrial se sitúa en el interior de naves industriales de grandes dimensiones y por tanto de alta densidad modal. Normalmente se pueden aplicar técnicas pasivas encapsulando totalmente la fuente con paneles de material absorbente y aislante. Pero a bajas frecuencias, encapsular no es sinónimo de reducir el nivel de ruido en el exterior ya que estos materiales en el rango de bajas frecuencias tienen muy bajo rendimiento de atenuación e incluso a las frecuencias de resonancia del encapsulamiento se puede llegar a aumentar el nivel sonoro en el exterior. Si se realiza el control activo no se consigue una reducción global (en todo el espacio) sino puntualmente cerca de los micrófonos de control.Esta tesis doctoral pretende demostrar que, introduciendo una fuente de ruido en un encapsulamiento adecuado se logra disminuir la densidad modal de su campo acústico, y por tanto, se puede conseguir la cancelación global por control activo del ruido generado por ésta en un recinto de grandes dimensiones, donde de forma directa sería totalmente imposible realizarlo por otros medios. Se ha realizado el modelo teórico del campo acústico producido en un recinto por una fuente encapsulada y se ha validado mediante mediciones de niveles de presión sonora en el interior y exterior del encapsulamiento para un altavoz. Con estas ecuaciones se ha estudiado el control activo y sus parámetros para una cancelación óptima en función de diferentes situaciones y aplicaciones. Se han realizado ensayos de control activo de un motor eléctrico encapsulado, se ha analizado los resultados comparándolos a los obtenidos con el modelo teórico, un altavoz o el propio motor sin encapsular, tanto en el interior del encapsulamiento como en el recinto exterior, corroborando la bondad del encapsulamiento activo. Se ha realizado una aplicación práctica de esta teoría en la cancelación por control activo del ruido de un ventilador de un ordenador personal.

    Normally, there are in use certain technologies of reduction of noise named passive, in the cancellation of the noise produced by industrial machinery. These technologies can be applied directly on the source (use of absorbers, mufflers and closings), in the way of transmission (as isolations, acoustic barriers, materials of absorption and acoustic sounders), or in the recipient (as the acoustic conditioning of locals or ear protective ). In this thesis, there is applied a technology different from that of passive type, named active control of noise, centring his use on the field of the industrial machinery.The active control is based on the attenuation or elimination of a acoustic wave by destructive interference. Though nowadays the active control of noise is in use commercial in some applications like air ducts, elements of auditory personal protection, cabins of planes ¿, it is occasionally used in industrial buildings, where the machines are in the habit of issuing serious and strongly tonal noise, what a priori, they are the suitable conditions for the utilization of the above mentioned control. The problem is that the industrial machinery places inside industrial buildings of big dimensions and therefore of high modal density. Normally passive technologies can be applied encasing totally the source with panels of absorbent and insulating material. But to low frequencies, to encase is not synonymous of reducing the level of noise in the exterior, since these materials in the range of low frequencies have very under performance of attenuation and enclosed to the resonance frequencies of the capsule is possible to come to increase the sonorous level in the exterior. If the active control is realized there is not obtained a global reduction (in the whole space) but punctually near the microphones of control. This doctoral thesis tries to demonstrate that, introducing a noise source in a suitable capsule is achieved to diminish the modal density of his acoustic field, and therefore, it is possible to obtain the global cancellation for active control of the noise generated by this one in an enclosure of big dimensions, where of direct form it would be totally impossible to realize it for other means. There has carried out the theoretical model of the acoustic field produced in an enclosure for an encased source and has been validated by means of level measurements of sonorous pressure in the interior and exterior of the encapsulamiento for a loudspeaker. With these equations the active control and his parameters have been studied for an ideal cancellation depending on different situations and applications. There have been realized tests of active control of an electrical encased engine, the results have been analyzed them comparing to the obtained ones with the theoretical model, a loudspeaker or the own engine without encasing, so much inside the capsule as in the exterior enclosure, corroborating the kindness of the active capsule. There has been realized a practical application of this theory in the cancellation by active control of the noise of a ventilator of a personal computer.

All these data have allowed an accurate characterization of the properties of the new composites, and according to these results, possible electrical applications have been explored, with the requirement that they must comply with Official Regulations.

    The mass manufacture of tires and the difficulty in storing or disposing them constitute a serious environmental problem. At present, various recycling methods for tires are used, such as grinding, which separates the steel and fibers from the vulcanized rubber, then using the rubber in numerous industrial applications such as pavements, insulators, footwear, etc. The aim of this article focuses on finding a new application for the ground tire rubber (GTR). This would allow including GTR in industrial applications of recycled high-density polythene (HDPE). Tire dust and HDPE thermoplastic have been mixed, and the maximum accepted values of GTR concentration that can be admitted while keeping dielectric, mechanical, and thermal properties within acceptable values, as well as initial polymer microstructure, have been checked. In addition, the suitability of the compounds for antistatic applications is studied. The recycled tire dust which results from the industrial milling processes has been divided by sieve in three different categories according to the size of the particles (<200, 200–500, and >500 mm). This has then been mixed with HDPE in different GTR concentrations (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50%, and 70%) in order to establish its conduct through electrical, mechanical, thermal, and microstructure tests, which will be held in a temperature range 30–120_C, and with a frequency range 1 _ 10_2 and 3 _ 106 Hz. The thermal tests determined the enthalpies and fusion temperatures which allow for the observation of changes in crystalline and microstructure of the matrix, and finally, the fracture surfaces of the compound samples have been evaluated using scanning electron microscopy

    La masiva fabricación de neumáticos, así como su posterior almacenamiento una vez utilizados, constituye un grave problema medioambiental al que se intenta dar salida de diversas formas, entre las que se encuentra el mezclar estos neumáticos fuera de uso (old used tires, GTR) con diferentes polímeros termoplásticos y termoestables. Estas mezclas se realizan variando el tratamiento previo al que se somete el GTR, el grado de desvulcanizado, las condiciones de mezcla o prensado, etc. Posteriormente, se analizan estas mezclas estructural y mecánicamente, buscando posibles aplicaciones industriales para ellas. El presente trabajo, pretende conseguir materiales aptos para la industria eléctrica a partir de la mezcal del Acrilonitrito butadieno estireno (ABS) reutilizado con neumáticos fuera de uso (GTR), pero partiendo del requisito de unos mínimos costes de reciclado posibles. es decir, utilizando GTR vulcanizado y sin aplicar ningún pretratamiento previo, y en cambio, actuando sobre el tamaño de sus partículas, el cual se puede conseguir con un simple y económico tamizado. Otra novedad que introduce el presente estudio, es el elevado número de compuestos analizados, aparte del profundo análisis a los que se les ha sometido (dieléctrico, mecánico, térmico y de microestructura), obteniéndose de cada ensayo una gran cantidad de variables. Los compuestos se obtuvieron tomando como variables los tres tamaños de partícula del GTR (p<200~m, 200500~m), y las siete concentraciones de GTR en la mezcla (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50% Y 70%), lo que representa, un total de 21 nuevos compuestos. Aparte, para que los ensayos dieléctricos fueran lo más exhaustivos posibles y mostraran el comportamiento del compuesto en condiciones muy diversas, se consideró un amplio régimen de temperaturas (30°C hasta 120°C) así como de frecuencias (1.10.2 Hz hasta 3.106 Hz). Todos estos datos, han permitido caracterizar con bastante exactitud las propiedades de los nuevos compuestos, y dependiendo de estos resultados, se han buscado posibles aplicaciones eléctricas, con el requisito de que éstas debían ajustarse a las Normativas Oficiales.

    Mass production of tires as well as their storage or elimination is a real environmental problem. Various methods for recycling of tires are currently used, such as mechanical grinding, which separates vulcanized rubber, steel, and fibers from tires. Rubber is, then, used in several industrial applications such as flooring, insulations, and footwear. This paper focuses on a new application for old used tires (ground tire rubber, GTR). Tire dust and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) have been mixed, and the maximum accepted concentration of GTR can be attained while keeping dielectric, thermal, and mechanical properties within acceptable limits, and therefore their possible industrial application will be in manufacturing of, for example, dielectrics for capacitors, low-voltage electric fences or electrical cable pipes, and trays. Actually, tire dust with particle sizes <700 μm has been classified into three different groups depending on the particle sizes (p < 200, 200< p < 500, and p > 500 μm). Afterward, ABS has been mixed with different concentrations of GTR, i.e., 5%, 10%, 20%, 50% and 70%, to establish its properties through thermal, mechanical, and dielectric tests. Finally, the fracture surfaces of the composite samples have been evaluated by using scanning electron microscopy.

    The improvements obtained on the torque with low currents using rotor with spiral sheets are analyzed in this paper. To have a complete study, several rotors and stators have been built to verify the electromagnetic variations on the three-phase asynchronous motors where they combine different constructive and mechanical characteristics of the related elements: changing inertias, constructive materials, and the geometrical shapes and disposition of the sheets. These different types of motors have been first tested in the laboratory, then, are simulated using computer aided tools (Matlab–Simulink). In particular four stators (1000, 1500, 1500-type A, and 3000 rpm) having the same constructive parameters, have been tested with the following rotors: solid rotor, solid rotor with diamagnetic rings, drag cup, and simple and double squirrel cage rotor. All these results have been compared to those obtained with the seven variants of spiral sheet rotor, presented in this paper.

    This paper presents a new multiresonant frequencyadaptive synchronization method for grid-connected power converters that allows estimating not only the positive- and negative-sequence components of the power signal at the fundamental frequency but also other sequence components at other harmonic frequencies. The proposed system is calledMSOGI-FLL since it is based on both a harmonic decoupling network consisting of multiple second-order generalized integrators (MSOGIs) and a frequency-locked loop (FLL), which makes the system frequency adaptive. In this paper, the MSOGI-FLL is analyzed for singleand three-phase applications, deducing some key expressions regarding its stability and tuning. Moreover, the performance of the MSOGI-FLL is evaluated by both simulations and experiments to show its capability for detecting different harmonic components in a highly polluted grid scenario.

    The mass manufacture of tires and the difficulty for their elimination or storage constitutes a serious environmental problem. At present, several methods for the recycling of tires are used, such as mechanical crushing, in which the steel vulcanized rubber and the fibers are separated; this rubber is being used in numerous applications like pavements, insulators, footwear, etc. This study proposes a second option for obsolete tires, demonstrating their utility as dielectrics. In order to do so, ground tire rubber (GTR) has been combined with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), to obtain a composite of a polymeric matrix reinforced with GTR. In order to determine the behavior of this composite material, the electrical and mechanical tests are presented as well as, more briefly, microstructure and thermal analyses, undertaken for the various mixtures of PVC with GTR (concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50%, and 70% GTR), and three GTR particle size categories (<200 mm, 200–500 mm, and >500 mm), in a range of temperatures that varied from 30 C to 130 C, and with frequencies from between 1 10 2 Hz and 3 106 Hz. The dielectric tests have allowed for an analysis of dielectric constant, dielectric loss factor, dielectric modulus, etc. On the other hand, the mechanical analysis has involved the Young’s modulus, tensile strength, elongation at break, and toughness. Mechanical and dielectric results point out that below 20% of GTR the material features for mechanical or electrical applications are not significantly altered.

    The mass manufacture of tires and the difficulty in storing or disposing them constitute a serious environmental problem. At present, various recycling methods for tires are used, such as grinding, which separates the steel and fibers from the vulcanized rubber, then using the rubber in numerous industrial applications such as pavements, insulators, footwear, etc. The aim of this article focuses on finding a new application for the ground tire rubber (GTR). This would allow including GTR in industrial applications of recycled high-density polythene (HDPE). Tire dust and HDPE thermoplastic have been mixed, and the maximum accepted values of GTR concentration that can be admitted while keeping dielectric, mechanical, and thermal properties within acceptable values, as well as initial polymer microstructure, have been checked. In addition, the suitability of the compounds for antistatic applications is studied. The recycled tire dust which results from the industrial milling processes has been divided by sieve in three different categories according to the size of the particles (<200, 200–500, and >500 mm). This has then been mixed with HDPE in different GTR concentrations (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 50%, and 70%) in order to establish its conduct through electrical, mechanical, thermal, and microstructure tests, which will be held in a temperature range 30–120 C, and with a frequency range 1 10 2 and 3 106 Hz. The thermal tests determined the enthalpies and fusion temperatures which allow for the observation of changes in crystalline and microstructure of the matrix, and finally, the fracture surfaces of the compound samples have been evaluated using scanning electron microscopy.

    This doctoral thesis studies the physical properties of polymeric composite materials, with the addition of ground tire rubber particles (GTR) and the use of any of these compounds for the electrical industry, either as a semiconductor, roofing, piping, insulation and stuffed in the world of electric cables or electric industry in general to provide an outlet for reusable materials from tires and give a new application is interesting for industry and also provide a solution to the serious problem of recycling such waste are as difficult to reuse the tires out of use. The difficulty to eliminate stocks of abandoned tires or store is a serious environmental problem. At present, various methods for recycling used tires, such as mechanical grinding, which separates the vulcanized rubber and steel fibers, using the rubber in many applications such as flooring, insulation, shoes, etc.. The carbon black is an important component in the tires with rates up to 30%, which is used to improve the behavior of these abrasive. This thesis investigates the electrical behavior (conductivity, permittivity, electric module, ...) of different composite materials obtained by mixing different polymers with different percentages of GTR (up to 70%) see their response depending on the amount of GTR, also depending on the frequency and temperature and see the potential feasibility for use in specific applications in the electric field. For this thesis are done different mixtures of materials (polymer insulators) with GTR to study the microstructural properties, thermal, mechanical and dielectric, by performing several tests: test DEA (impedance), test Drive Strain, Young's modulus, elongation at break, tensile strength, hardness, microstructure analysis by electron microscopy and thermal analysis by DSC testing of all compounds that have been made and conclusions drawn as to affect the incorporation tire dust in different proportions of GTR(0-5-10-20-40-50 and 70% ) and with different particle sizes (<200 µm, 200-500 µm,>500 µm). From then analyzes the information obtained from all the research done to extract conclusions, then analyzes the current regulations and how they might use some of the compounds analyzed by the electrical industry, and thus recovered difficult to recycle waste while helping to lower production costs by adding powder tires. In addition, this can mean that quantifies savings in the global market and the Spanish market while environmental factors are weighted, such as the CO2 emissions and the storage of this waste.

    A la present Tesi doctoral s'aborda l'estudi de propietats físiques de materials polimèrics compostos, amb l’addició de partícules neumàtic fora d’ús (NFU o GTR –en anglès-) triturat i l'aprofitament d'algun d'aquests compostos per a la indústria elèctrica, ja sigui com a semiconductor, cobertes, canalitzacions, aïllament i farcits, en el món dels cables elèctrics o la indústria elèctrica en general per donar sortida a materials reutilitzables provinents de pneumàtics fora d'ús i donar una nova aplicació que sigui interessant per a la indústria i alhora donar una solució al greu problema del reciclatge d'aquest tipus de residus de difícil reutilització com son els neumàtics fora d’ús. La dificultat per eliminar els estocs de pneumàtics abandonats o emmagatzemar constitueix un greu problema mediambiental. En l'actualitat, s'utilitzen diversos mètodes per al reciclatge de pneumàtics, com la trituració mecànica, en la qual se separa el cautxú vulcanitzat de l'acer i les fibres, utilitzant aquest cautxú en nombroses aplicacions com paviments, aïllants, calçat, etc. El negre de fum és un component important en els pneumàtics amb percentatges de fins al 30%, que s'utilitza per millorar el comportament abrasiu d'aquests. En aquesta tesi doctoral s'investiga el comportament elèctric (conductivitat, permitivitat, mòdul elèctric, ...) de diferents materials compostos obtinguts mitjançant la barreja de diferents polímers amb diferents percentatges de NFU (fins a un 70%), veure la seva resposta en funció de la quantitat de NFU, en funció també de la freqüència i de la temperatura i veure la possible viabilitat per a ser utilitzats en aplicacions concretes en l'àmbit elèctric. Per a la present tesi doctoral es realitzen diferents mescles de materials (polímers aïllants), amb NFU per estudiar les propietats microestructurals, tèrmiques, mecàniques i dielèctriques, mitjançant la realització de diversos assaigs: assaig DEA (espectroscòpia d'impedàncies), assaig Tracció-Deformació , Mòdul de Young, Allargament a la ruptura, Resistència a la Ruptura, Duresa, Anàlisi de Microestructura mitjançant Microscòpia Electrònica i anàlisi tèrmica mitjançant assaig DSC de tots els compostos que s'han realitzat, i s'extreuen conclusions de com afecta la incorporació de pols de pneumàtic en diferents proporcions (0-5- 10-20-40-50 i 70% de NFU) i amb mides de partícula diferents (<200 μm, 200-500 μm, >500 μm). A partir d'aquí s'analitza la informació obtinguda de tota la investigació realitzada per extreure conclusions, tot seguit s'analitza la normativa vigent actual i de quina manera es podria utilitzar algun dels compostos analitzats per a la indústria elèctrica, i així es valoritza un residu de difícil reciclatge al mateix temps que es contribueix a baixar costos de producció per addició de pols de Pneumàtic Fora d'Ús. A més es quantifica en que pot suposar aquest estalvi a nivell mundial i espanyol a la vegada que es ponderen factors mediambientals, com pot ser l'emissió de CO2 i l'emmagatzematge d'aquest residu.

    The objectives of this article arise through the investigation of a motor with a high starting torque although with limited intensities, weak intensity variations depending on the load, controlled losses in no-load tests, and an acceptable performance in steady state and with a good response in transient periods. All these requirements would have to be obtained without the help of power electronics, in this way the motor would be more robust, longer lasting and without the need for auxiliary equipment. In this article, the operation principle, the characteristic parameters and the obtained results for the spiral sheet motor are analyzed for three speed regimes 1000, 1500 and 3000 rpm. Also, at the end of the paper the spiral sheet motor is compared with the squirrel cage rotor, the solid rotor with rings, the wound rotor with additional resistances in the rotor circuit, and the hollow diamagnetic rotor.

    mprovements in torque at low currents using a rotor with spiral sheets are analyzed. Several rotors and stators have been built combining different constructive and mechanical characteristics of the related elements : inertias, constructive materials, geometrical shapes of the sheets and geometrical disposition of the sheets . These different types of motors have been simulated using computer aided tools and then tested in the laboratory. Finally, four stators (1000, 1500, 1500-type A, and 3000 rpm) with the same constructive parameters, have been simulated and tested with the following rotors types: solid rotor, solid rotor with diamagnetic rings, drag cup, and simple and double squirrel cage rotor; the results have been compared to those obtained with the seven variants of spiral sheet rotor presented in this paper.
