    Comunicación a través de las rutas aéreas es una cuestión importante en un mundo organizado en torno a una red de ciudades en forma de banda . En este contexto, la solidez de las infraestructuras de red , por ejemplo, las redes de transporte de aire , son un tema central en la geografía del transporte. La interrupción de los enlaces de comunicación por causas intencionales (por ejemplo, ataque terrorista en un aeropuerto ) o involuntaria (por ejemplo , inclemencias del tiempo ) podría ser un serio inconveniente para los países, las regiones y las aerolíneas. Los formuladores de políticas y la gestión de aerolíneas y alianzas deben ser capaces de reducir los efectos de tales interrupciones a fin de garantizar una buena comunicación a través del transporte aéreo ( es decir , maximizar la solidez de su red a un costo razonable). La revisión de la literatura en el estudio de las redes de rutas de transporte aéreo a través de un análisis de redes complejas ha puesto de relieve la falta de contribuciones al estudio de la topología y la robustez de este tipo de redes , lo que contrasta con los avances realizados por otras redes de transporte o sistemas de comunicación . La encuesta literatura sugiere áreas en que deberá efectuarse la investigación , con base en la literatura existente en otras áreas y desde tres perspectivas diferentes : redes de rutas mundiales , alianzas de líneas aéreas y líneas aéreas . El objetivo de esta investigación es desarrollar una mejor comprensión del tráfico aéreo y , en particular , para ser capaz de evaluar el daño potencial de cualquier aeropuerto inoperante para un continente , país o compañía aérea.

    Communication via air routes is an important issue in a world organized around a web-like city network. In this context, the robustness of network infrastructures, e.g. air transport networks, are a central issue in transport geography. Disruption of communication links by intentional causes (e.g., terrorist attack on an airport) or unintentional (e.g., weather inclemency) could be a serious drawback for countries, regions and airlines. Policymakers and the management of airlines and alliances should be able to reduce the effects of such interruptions in order to ensure good communication through air transport (i.e., maximize the robustness of their network at a reasonable cost). The literature review of the study of air transport route networks through an analysis of complex networks has highlighted a lack of contributions to the study of the topology and the robustness of such networks, which contrasts with advances undertaken for other transport networks or communication systems. The literatura survey suggests areas in which research should be undertaken, based on the existing literature in other areas and from three different perspectives: global route networks, airline alliances and airlines. The aim of this research is to develop a better understanding of air traffic and, in particular, to be able to assess the potential damage of any airport being inoperative for a continent, country or airline.

    Existing literature on education and technology has frequently highlighted the usefulness of online discussion forums for distance courses; however, the majority of such investigations have focused their attention only on text-based forums. The objective of this paper is to determine if the embedding of streamed videos in online discussion forums generates educational dialogue and consequently the feedback that students need in a Management Accounting Course. The findings suggest some interesting issues, such as: students prefer text answers except in complex questions, and videos never replace text commentaries and explanations, but rather complement them.

    The purpose of this paper is to analyse the relations between organizational commitment (OC) dimensions and two focal and discretionary behaviours (intention to stay and organizational citizenship behaviour). Drawing on a sample of 310 Spanish employees of small services firms, this research reveals that in contrast to recent findings that detected a nonlinear (inverted U-shaped) relationship between continuance commitment and intention to stay, the form of the relationships between OC dimensions and the proposed outcomes is linear rather than nonlinear. Furthermore, when dividing continuance commitment into two subcomponents, the research results indicate that the dimension associated with commitment based on few existing employment alternatives is significantly, negatively and linearly related to intention to stay and organizational citizenship behaviour. This suggests that the three-component model of OC suffers from a conceptual inconsistency, which is further discussed.

    In this working paper we make analysis on flight flow network structure of Europe. The aim of this study is to analyze the robustness of the European civil European air transportation network from the perspective of the theory of complex networks. This study is based on analyzing the behavior of the network when its nodes (airports) are removed by random attacks and deliberate attacks. The selection of nodes on deliberate attacks is based on four criteria: degree, betweenness, pagerank and eigenvector. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the logistics network of European commercial flights, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses. The calculation of network statistical indicators as degree and betweenness distribution reveals that the flight flow network has the small-world characteristics and scale-free property.

    L'anàlisi d'equacions estructurals és una tècnica per avaluar models amb relacions complexes entre variables (path analysis), amb variables observables i variables latents. Un cas especialment interessant d'aplicació és l'anàlisi factorial confirmatòria, que permet avaluar la validesa de constructe d'escales de mesura. En aquest article es presenta el paquet de R lavaan, que permet avaluar amb facilitat models d'equacions estructurals. Es reporta informació sobre la sintaxi del model, així com de les possibilitats del paquet.

    El constructo Comportamiento de Ciudadanía Organizativa (CCO) ha recibido una gran atención en las tres últimas décadas(Podsakoff, Mackenzie, Paine y Bachrach, 2000). En la actualidad la ciudadanía organizativa está conceptualizada como unconstructo multidimensional que abarca diferentes facetas de los comportamientos discrecionales en las organizaciones.Investigaciones existentes sobre los CCO se han centrado principalmente en las dimensiones afiliativas del constructo(Bettencourt, 2004). A pesar de su potencial, hasta la fecha, las dimensiones dirigidas al cambio de los CCO, como motores decambio en la organización, han recibido poca atención por los investigadores (Choi, 2007).En este sentido, y teniendo en cuenta que pocos autores han establecido algunos de los posibles antecedentes de los CCOorientados al cambio (e.j.: Choi, 2007; Bettencourt, 2004), esta investigación tiene por objeto examinar las conductas proactivasen el ámbito de los comportamientos de ciudadanía organizativa. Concretamente, este documento se basa en un marco generalde motivación proactiva para proponer y validar un modelo que evalúa la influencia de la dimensión consideraciónindividualizada del liderazgo transformacional y el clima organizativo innovador como antecedentes distales de loscomportamientos de ciudadanía organizativa orientados al cambio, a través de su impacto directo sobre los estadoscognitivo-emocionales de los individuos (autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol y autorresponsabilidad por el cambioconstructivo). Este modelo se basa en el propuesto por Parker, Bindl y Strauss (2010) sobre la motivación proactiva, y lainvestigación que reconoce la importancia del liderazgo transformacional y el clima organizativo innovador sobre este tipo decomportamiento (ej.: Betencourt, 2004 ; Choi, 2007).El modelo propuesto analiza dos dimensiones de la consideración individualizada (el liderazgo de apoyo y el liderazgodesarrollador), y del clima organizativo innovador (clima de soporte y de recursos) como antecedentes distales de los CCOorientados al cambio. La relación entre los CCO orientados al cambio y sus antecedentes distales aparece mediada por laautorresponsabilidad por el cambio constructivo y la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol. Las hipótesis propuestas indicanque las relaciones entre el liderazgo desarrollador, el clima organizativo innovador de soporte y los CCO orientados al cambio,están mediadas por la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol. Así mismo la relación entre un clima de innovación condisponibilidad de recursos, el liderazgo de apoyo y los CCO orientados al cambio, viene mediada por la autorresponsabilidad porel cambio constructivo, que a su vez está mediada por la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol.Estos resultados son consistentes con hallazgos de investigaciones previas que han confirmado la mediación de las relacionesentre el liderazgo y los comportamientos de ciudadanía organizacional (e. g. Wang, Law, Hackett, Wang y Chen, 1995). Asímismo, manifiesta el hecho de que dos facetas de un mismo constructo (la consideración individualizada) presentan relacionesdiferentes hacia los comportamientos de ciudadanía organizativa orientados al cambio. Esto demuestra que son dossubdimensiones bien definidas de liderazgo, confirmando así las previsiones de Rafferty y Griffin (2006). Finalmente cabeenfatizar la ampliación del estudio realizado por Choi (2007) en cuanto a la diferenciación de las subcomponentes del climaorganizativo innovador y la contribución del liderazgo de apoyo.

    El constructo Comportamiento de Ciudadanía Organizativa (CCO) ha recibido una gran atención en las tres últimas décadas (Podsakoff, Mackenzie, Paine y Bachrach, 2000). En la actualidad la ciudadanía organizativa está conceptualizada como un constructo multidimensional que abarca diferentes facetas de los comportamientos discrecionales en las organizaciones. Estas dimensiones pueden clasificarse en dos grandes grupos: las dimensiones afiliativas, que incluyen comportamientos orientados a mantener las relaciones de trabajo , y los CCO orientados al cambio, que abarcan "actos voluntarios de creatividad e innovación destinados a mejorar las tareas o el desempeño de la organización” (Podsakoff et al., 2000, p. 524) En base a la definición de voz de Lepine y Van Dyne (2001, p. 326), conceptualizada como "comunicaciones orientadas al cambio destinadas a mejorar la situación", y la definición de asunción de responsabilidad de Morrison y Phelps (1999, p.403), como “esfuerzos voluntarios y constructivos que implican el cambio organizativo funcional", Choi (2007) reformula la definición ofrecida por Bettencourt (2004) y define los CCO orientados al cambio como los "esfuerzos constructivos realizados por los individuos para identificar y aplicar cambios con respecto a los métodos de trabajo, políticas y procedimientos para mejorar la situación y el desempeño de la organización" (Choi, 2007, p. 469). Investigaciones existentes sobre los CCO se han centrado principalmente en las dimensiones afiliativas del constructo (Bettencourt, 2004). A pesar de su potencial, hasta la fecha, las dimensiones dirigidas al cambio de los CCO, como motores de cambio en la organización, han recibido poca atención por los investigadores (Choi, 2007). Las medidas utilizadas en este estudio se basan en las escalas que han sido empíricamente validadas por la literatura existente. Concretamente, el comportamiento de ciudadanía organizativa orientado al cambio se midió utilizando la escala desarrollada por Choi (2007), la autorresponsabilidad por el cambio constructivo mediante la escala propuesta por Morrison y Phelps (1999), la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol mediante elementos de la escala desarrollada por Parker (1998), las subdimensiones de la consideración individualizada utilizando la escala desarrollada por Rafferty y Griffin (2006), y las componentes del clima organizativo innovador mediante la escala de Scott y Bruce (1994). El modelo, que incluye todas las relaciones hipotéticas, fue probado utilizando modelos de ecuaciones estructurales mediante el software AMOS. El modelo se probó en una muestra de 602 empleados españoles con educación superior. El modelo propuesto analiza dos dimensiones de la consideración individualizada (el liderazgo de apoyo y el liderazgo desarrollador), y del clima organizativo innovador (clima de soporte y de recursos) como antecedentes distales de los CCO orientados al cambio. La relación entre los CCO orientados al cambio y sus antecedentes distales aparece mediada por la autorresponsabilidad por el cambio constructivo y la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol. Las hipótesis propuestas indican que las relaciones entre el liderazgo desarrollador, el clima organizativo innovador de soporte y los CCO orientados al cambio, están mediadas por la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol. Así mismo la relación entre un clima de innovación con disponibilidad de recursos, el liderazgo de apoyo y los CCO orientados al cambio, viene mediada por la autorresponsabilidad por el cambio constructivo, que a su vez está mediada por la autoeficacia en el cumplimiento del rol. Estos resultados son consistentes con hallazgos de investigaciones previas que han confirmado la mediación de las relaciones entre el liderazgo y los comportamientos de ciudadanía organizacional (e. g. Wang, Law, Hackett, Wang y Chen, 1995). Así mismo, manifiesta el hecho de que dos facetas de un mismo constructo (la consideración individualizada) presentan relaciones diferentes hacia los comportamientos de ciudadanía organizativa orientados al cambio. Esto demuestra que son dos subdimensiones bien definidas de liderazgo, confirmando así las previsiones de Rafferty y Griffin (2006). Finalmente cabe enfatizar la ampliación del estudio realizado por Choi (2007) en cuanto a la diferenciación de las subcomponentes del clima organizativo innovador y la contribución del liderazgo de apoyo. Respecto este último aspecto, destaca el hecho que la investigación de Choi (2007) no proporciona soporte a la hipótesis planteada para el liderazgo de apoyo y los CCO-OC, en cuanto a la mediación de la autorresponsabilidad por el cambio constructivo (FRCC). En este estudio se ha podido observar que esta relación sí es plausible si existe por parte del individuo un sentimiento de autoeficacia en el rol (RBSE). No basta con tener motivos para hacer, también es necesario sentirse capaz.

    The concept of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has received a great amount of attention during the last three decades (Podsakoff, Mackenzie, Paine & Bachrach, 2000). Nowadays, OCB is conceptualized as a multidimensional construct, covering different facets of discretionary behaviour Extant research on OCB has been focused mainly on the affiliative dimensions of the construct (Bettencourt, 2004). In spite of their potential as triggers of organizational change, the challenging dimensions of OCB have received little attention by researchers to date (Choi, 2007). In this regard, and noting that few authors have established possible antecedents of change-oriented OCB (e.g. Choi, 2007; Bettencourt, 2004), this research aims at examining proactive behaviors in the field of organizational citizenship behaviors. More specifically, this paper draws on a general framework of proactive motivation to propose and test a model that evaluates the influence of individualized consideration dimension of transformational leadership and innovative organizational climate as distal antecedents of change-oriented organizational citizenship behavior, through their direct impact upon individuals¿ cognitive-emotional states (role breadth self-efficacy and felt responsibility for constructive change). This model draws upon Parker, Bindl and Strauss (2010)¿s model of proactive motivation and the research that recognizes the importance of transformational leadership and innovative organizational climate upon this type of behavior (e.g., Betencourt, 2004; Choi, 2007). The proposed model analyzes two dimensions of individualized consideration (supportive leadership and developmental leadership) and innovative organizational climate (climate of support and resources), as distal antecedents of change-oriented OCB. The relation between change-oriented OCB and its distal antecedents is mediated by role breadth self-efficacy and felt responsibility for constructive change. The hypotheses suggest that the relationship between developmental leadership, support innovative organizational climate and change-oriented OCB is mediated by role breadth self-efficacy. Likewise, the relationship between innovative climate associated with resources availability, supportive leadership and change-oriented OCB, is mediated by felt responsibility for constructive change, which in turn is mediated by role breadth self-efficacy. These results are consistent with previous research findings that confirmed mediating relations between leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors (e. g., Wang, Law, Hackett, Wang, & Chen, 1995). Likewise, it shows the fact those two facets of the same construct (individualized consideration) present different relations towards change-oriented organizational citizenship behaviors. This shows that there are two well-defined leadership subdimensions, confirming this way the forecasts of Rafferty and Griffin (2006). Finally it should be emphasized the expansion of Choi¿s (2007) study with regard to the differentiation of the subcomponents of the organizational climate and the contribution of supportive leadership.

    L'objectiu d'aquesta investigació és entendre com els equips de projectes internacionals permeten a les empreses multinacionals madures fer front a la diversitat de coneixements i l'activitat política, dues reconegudes fonts de problemes organitzacionals, amb la finalitat de potenciar les seves capacitats d'innovació i potencial competitiu . Per respondre a aquesta pregunta un estudi longitudinal embolicant casos múltiples s'ha desenvolupat per recollir dades qualitatives en profunditat des de tres grans projectes internacionals a càrrec d'una empresa multinacional focal i una gran varietat de les seves filials. D'una manera dialèctica, les dades recollides han estat utilitzats tant per millorar el marc del canvi dinàmic del coneixement proposat per la sociologia contemporània i explicar els complexos mecanismes que fan que els equips de projectes internacionals en una eina cada vegada més utilitzada per aquestes organitzacions. Com a resultat, es mostra que el canvi d'un determinat coneixement depèn d'un equilibri dinàmic entre poder i política afavorit per les condicions que són inherents a aquests formats organitzacionals. Finalment, es desenvolupa un model que detalla els mecanismes que permeten als equips de projectes internacionals impulsar la diversitat de coneixements i l'activitat política cap a la innovació i el canvi del coneixement dins de les empreses multinacionals madures.

    The aim of this investigation is to understand how international project teams enable mature multinational enterprises (MNEs) to cope with knowledge diversity and political activity, two well-known disruptive organizational phenomena, in order to leverage their innovative potential and competitive capabilities. To answer this question a longitudinal multi-case study has been designed to collect in-depth qualitative data from three large-scale international projects conducted by a focal MNE and an array of its subsidiaries. In a dialectic way, data collected has been used both to enhance the dynamic knowledge change framework provided by contemporary sociology and to explain the complex mechanisms that make international project teams an increasingly used organizational tool. As a result, knowledge change (and thus innovation) has been found to hinge on a dynamic balance between power and politics which is favored by conditions that are inherent to these organizational settings. Finally, a model describing the mechanisms that enable international project teams to drive knowledge diversity and political activity towards innovation and knowledge change within MNEs has been developed.

Per respondre a aquesta pregunta un estudi longitudinal embolicant casos múltiples s'ha desenvolupat per recollir dades qualitatives en profunditat des de tres grans projectes internacionals a càrrec d'una empresa multinacional focal i una gran varietat de les seves filials. D'una manera dialèctica, les dades recollides han estat utilitzats tant per millorar el marc del canvi dinàmic del coneixement proposat per la sociologia contemporània i explicar els complexos mecanismes que fan que els equips de projectes internacionals en una eina cada vegada més utilitzada per aquestes organitzacions. Com a resultat, es mostra que el canvi d'un determinat coneixement depèn d'un equilibri dinàmic entre poder i política afavorit per les condicions que són inherents a aquests formats organitzacionals. Finalment, es desenvolupa un model que detalla els mecanismes que permeten als equips de projectes internacionals impulsar la diversitat de coneixements i l'activitat política cap a la innovació i el canvi del coneixement dins de les empreses multinacionals madures.

    El objetivo de esta investigación es entender cómo los equipos de proyectos internacionales permiten a las empresas multinacionales maduras hacer frente a la diversidad de conocimientos y la actividad política, dos reconocidas fuentes de problemas organizacionales, con el fin de potenciar sus capacidades de innovación y potencial competitivo. Para responder a esta pregunta un estudio longitudinal envolviendo casos múltiplos se ha desarrollado para recoger datos cualitativos en profundidad desde tres grandes proyectos internacionales a cargo de una empresa multinacional focal y una gran variedad de sus filiales. De una manera dialéctica, los datos recogidos han sido utilizados tanto para mejorar el marco del cambio dinámico del conocimiento propuesto por la sociología contemporánea y explicar los complejos mecanismos que hacen que los equipos de proyectos internacionales en una herramienta cada vez más utilizada por estas organizaciones. Como resultado, se muestra que el cambio de un determinado conocimiento depende de un equilibrio dinámico entre poder y política favorecido por las condiciones que son inherentes a estos formatos organizacionales. Por fin, se desarrolla un modelo que detalla los mecanismos que permiten a los equipos de proyectos internacionales impulsar la diversidad de conocimientos y la actividad política hacia la innovación y el cambio del conocimiento dentro de las empresas multinacionales maduras.

    The selection and use of communication media has been the center of attention for a great number of researchers in the area of organizational communication. The channel expansion theory combines elements of the main theories in this area; however, these investigations have a static cross-sectional design rather than a longitudinal analysis. With the objective of filling this gap, we research how the perception of media richness varies over time with a longitudinal study. The results suggest that the perception of richness of a channel by different individuals is different but that those variations due to a change in acquired experiences, are influenced in a similar and significant way by all individuals over time.

    Air ticket purchases can be considered to be based on sequential decision-making processes with a limited number of alternatives with clearly identified product attributes. With this scenario, decoy contextual effects could potentially be useful in increasing the profitability of each choice set through driving the attention of the users to a particular alternative by changing their perceptions, such as the perceived attractiveness of particular options, to benefit one specific alternative. This study validates the efficiency of the addition of decoy options in increasing the proportion of users who select the target option in a choice set and introduces, theoretically and empirically, the use of double decoys. Three distinct hypothetical choice sets are configured using two different types of decoy.

    This study draws on a general framework of proactive motivation to propose and test a model that evaluates the influence of the individualized consideration dimension of transformational leadership and organizational climate on change-oriented organizational citizenship behavior. In this model, individuals' cognitive emotional states (role breadth self-efficacy and felt responsibility for constructive change) act as mediating variables. For the first time in the literature, this paper develops a model of leadership and organizational climate antecedents of organizational citizenship behavior. Using a sample of 602 Spanish employees with higher education, the structural equation modeling indicates that the proposed model fits reasonably well to the data. Research results show that all hypotheses are significant, thus confirming the results of previous research that finds mediated relations between transformational leadership and other dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior.

    Purpose: This paper analyzes the relation between the underlying dimensions of protean (self direction and values driven) and boundaryless (boundaryless mindset and organizational mobility preference) career attitudes (Briscoe et al., 2006) and organizational commitment, within today¿s unstable and uncertain business scenario. Design/methodology/approach: Data was collected from 167 professionals attending graduate and post-graduate distance learning courses. The hypotheses were tested using hierarchical regression analysis. Findings: Research results suggest that protean career attitudes contribute significantly to individuals¿ emotional attachment to their employing organization. Furthermore, organizational mobility preference was found to be significant in predicting both affective and continuance commitment. Research limitations: First, cross-sectional correlational designs impede conclusive inferences regarding causal relationships among the variables. Second, the use of a sample of professionals attending distance learning business courses could limit the generalizability of the study findings, because the majority of the respondents were homogenous in terms of age and educational background. Practical implications: Fostering individuals¿ self-direction results in enhanced affective commitment to their employing organizations. Workshops oriented at clarifying and communicating organizational values, philosophy and principles can be all beneficial for strengthening employees¿ commitment to the organization. Originality/value: This is the first paper to test the relationship between boundaryless and protean career attitudes and organizational commitment on a European sample.

    Network strategies used by airline carriers have been a recurring theme in research into air transport. The aim of this paper is to investigate the interrelationship between the different operational characteristics of the airline and its route network configuration. For this purpose, it will analyzed the two main airline carrier typologies - Full-Service and Low-Cost carriers - using empirical models developed on the complex network research and relate them to their business model. It has been developed a preliminary study with multiple airline case studies around the world and been found that, just in Europe, one can differentiate between Full-Service and Low- Cost Carriers by complex network analyses. In this process, it has been also found that new concept of Low-Cost Carriers, as Vueling, have networks properties more similar to Full-Service Carriers. The analysis carried out in this research can help to assess the evolution of the strategies of airline carriers, and has also operational implications, since the configuration of an airline route network can determine its resilience to attacks and errors.

    A new software suite, called QCAsoft, has been developed for qualitative comparative analysis. In contrast to the rest of programs, QCAsoft allows to analyze the necessary conditions and sufficient conditions through three different methods: graphically, by degrees of consistency and coverage, and statistically. Moreover, QCAsoft is running under a virtual machine of JAVA, which allows executing in different operations Systems: MS WINDOWS, MAC OSX, and Linux. QCAsoft contains some unique features in terms of a user friendly graphical environment. In order to present this software, the paper presents the theoretical background of qualitative comparative analysis, and introduces an example. Finally, we compare the results of analyzing this example using qualitative comparative analysis and the results of the same example using a linear regression model.

    Network strategies used by airline carriers have been a recurring theme in air transport research. Disruption of communication via air routes by intended causes (e.g., terrorist attack on an airport) or unintended (e.g., weather) could be crucial for the operations of airlines affected. Airlines should be able to reduce the effects of such interruptions in order to ensure good communication through air transport (i.e., maximize the robustness of their network at a reasonable cost). To do this, a complex network approach provides us with the network robustness analysis. The literature review of the study of air transport route networks through an analysis of complex networks has highlighted a lack of contributions to the study of the dynamic behavior of such networks which is, however, being analyzed for other transport networks or communication systems. Since the airline carriers have different network strategies - especially considering the use of hub airports where traffic intensifies and therefore exists greater risk to an attack on the hub - it can be seen how the airline carriers respond to intended and unintended airport closures depending on their network configurations.

    Considering the low contribution margins for commercial aviation, it is vital for airline carriers to make a good forecast of changes in demand for a particular region. For this purpose, it has been analyzed the causal relations established between both demographic and regional economic characteristics related to commercial passenger air traffic in Europe. It has been constructed a panel data model considering three main groups of variables: demographic, economic and tourist attractiveness. Preliminary results showed that Eastern andWestern European countries respond to different models. Although the significant explanatory variables are the same in both regions, the coefficients are significantly lower in Eastern European countries. For this reason it has been conduct two parallel models for Eastern and Western European countries that fit with the actual passenger demand in each country with significant results. The proposed models could help airlines to more accurately predict passenger demand in a particular region as well as to decide where to expand or open new routes.

    One of the most important determinants of managerial effectiveness in achieving organisational objectives is the success in influencing subordinates, lateral peers and supervisors through influence tactics. However, little attention has been paid to the use of a communication medium in the context of influence tactics. Our objective is to study the frequency of these dyadic influence tactics on diverse communication media. The study involves a questionnaire-based survey conducted on Spanish post-graduate students who had been working in medium-sized or large companies during the last 2 years or more. The results suggest that the richness of the medium explains most similarities and differences in the frequency of influence tactics for different communication media. Furthermore, in the study of hard influence tactics in communication media with similar richness, it is necessary to introduce social aspects and the level of surveillance in order to explain it fully. This study helps managers to understand the relationships between influence tactics and the use of communication media in order to improve their communication effectiveness.

    La adquisición de participaciones accionariales de otra empresa puede tener influencia sobre la gestión de ésta. Por otro lado, la ubicación de la sede de las grandes empresas en una comunidad autónoma o, empresas con influencia en éstas, puede ser relevante para la comunidad autónoma. En este con-texto, analizaremos mediante técnicas de redes sociales las propiedades estructura-les de la red de participaciones accionariales de las empresas pertenecientes al IBEX-35 y analizaremos su distribución sectorial por comunidades autónomas. El estudio muestra una gran concentración de participaciones accionariales entre las empresas más importantes del IBEX-35 y Madrid aparece como sede central de España, seguida por Catalunya y el País Vasco. The restructuring process in Spain is concentrating banking financial institutions through mergers and takeovers. In this context, interlocking directorates between entities in the process of restructuring may be functioning as a coordinating mechanism of the processes of mergers or takeovers. We analyse the longitudinal network of interlocking directorates from 2006 to 2010 of Spanish banks and saving banks. The results show that, in many cases, mergers and takeo-vers are preceded by direct interlocking directorates among the entities involved.

    Esta comunicación trata la cuestión del poder en Europa en el campo de la economía y, específicamente, en el área de las redes corporati-vas. En este estudio preliminar de la red corporativa europea observada a través de las consejerías cruzadas, obtenemos pistas sobre lo que se debe analizar en estu-dios de mayor extensión. Hemos hallado indicios de que las compañías asegurado-ras están reemplazando a los bancos en el centro de la red y que las compañías francesas y alemanas copan los lugares de privilegio de la red. This communication deals with the question of power in Eu-rope in the field of economics and, specifically, in the corporate network arena. In this preliminary study of the European corporate network observed through inter-locking directorates, we get some clues about what to look at when developing further investigations. We’ve found indications that insurance companies are re-placing bancs in the core of the network and that French and German corporations take privileged places.

    El análisis de ecuaciones estructurales es una técnica para evaluar modelos con relaciones complejas entre variables (path analysis), así co-mo modelos con variables latentes. Un caso especialmente interesante de aplica-ción es el análisis factorial confirmatorio, que permite evaluar la validez de cons-tructo de escalas de medida. En este artículo se presenta el paquete de R lavaan, que permite evaluar con facilidad modelos de ecuaciones estructurales. Se reporta información sobre la sintaxis del modelo, así como de las posibilidades del paque-te. Structural equation modeling is a technique to asses models with complex relationships between variables (path analysis), and models with la-tent variables. An especially interesting case is confirmatory factor analysis, a technique that allows assessing the construct validity of measurement scales. In this paper the lavaan package of R is presented, which easily allows testing struc-tural equation models. Information about the model syntax is reported, and of the possibilites of the package.

En este contexto, las consejerías cruzadas entre las distintas entidades en proceso de reestructuración pueden estar funcionando como mecanismo de coordinación de los procesos de fusión y absorción. Por esta razón, analizamos la red longitudinal de consejerías cruzadas desde 2006 a 2010 de bancos y cajas de ahorros españoles. Los resultados muestran que, en múltiples casos, las fusiones y absorciones vienen precedidas de la compartición directa de consejeros entre las distintas entidades involucradas. The restructuring process in Spain is concentrating banking financial institutions through mergers and takeovers. In this context, interlocking directorates between entities in the process of restructuring may be functioning as a coordinating mechanism of the processes of mergers or takeovers. We analyse the longitudinal network of interlocking directorates from 2006 to 2010 of Spanish banks and saving banks. The results show that, in many cases, mergers and takeo-vers are preceded by direct interlocking directorates among the entities involved.

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of gender upon the relation between protean and boundaryless career attitudes and subjective career success, in today’s dynamic and changing organizational context. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected using a questionnaire conducted on 150 graduate and post-graduate distance learning students. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings – The analysis indicates that women’s career success is positively related with self-direction and negatively related with their reliance on their own values. Furthermore, the authors found a negative relation between organizational mobility preference and men’s subjective career success. Research limitations/implications – A potential limitation of this study is that all participants were distance-learning students, thus limiting the generalizability of the findings to other populations. Furthermore, cross-sectional designs do not permit drawing conclusions regarding the causal direction. Practical implications – Organizations should transform work structures and human resources policies and provide career models that allow women flexibility and more control over their work. Research results show that values-driven predisposition may lead to low levels of perceived career success. This indirectly suggests that individuals experience intrinsic career success when their values are consistent with organizational values, and therefore they should seek work opportunities in organizations whose aim, scope, and philosophy is consistent with their ideals. Originality/value – This is the first paper to shed light on gender’s impact upon the relationship between protean and boundaryless career attitudes and subjective career success, in a context in which there have been calls in literature for more career research taking into account gender differences.

    La red de tráfico aéreo es determinante en el estudio del transporte aéreo. Sobre dicha red intervienen factores socioeconómicos de las ciudades o regiones, infraestructuras aeroportuarias, etc. Se trata de un estudio comparado entre las redes de 16 aeropuertos europeos. Cada red socio métrica se constituye a partir de los vínculos de origen y destino entre los aeropuertos que tienen conexión directa con cada uno de los 16 aeropuertos elegidos. Las variables-indicadores considerados son estándares en la teoría de redes: nO de conexiones, densidad, centralidades, geodésica, cohesiones. A partir de este análisis comparativo el objetivo consiste en identificar y validar una clasificación de aeropuertos según tres modelos generales de estructuras de rutas: hub&spoke, point to point y un modelo combinación de los precedentes denominado emergente

    Esta investigación es una contribución a la evolución de la teoría mediante la aportación de dos elementos significativos. El primero es la comprobación de la existencia de posiciones de decoy inferiores que no producen efecto alguno sobre la opción target reforzando la idea de que los procesos que gobiernan los efectos contextuales, value shift y value added, se producen de manera simultánea y se compensan el uno al otro anulando el efecto del decoy. Además, en el presente estudio se propone una solución para la aplicación de estrategias de venta que incorporan decoys en la venta de billetes de avión. Del mismo modo, se evalúa la interacción que presenta un diseño concreto de decoy con el efecto marca. Es decir, si la introducción de la variable marca dentro de los distintos conjuntos opciones originales-decoy tiene implicaciones significativas.

    La situación actual del transporte aéreo y de la aviación comercial en concreto, dónde las compañías deben adquirir un fuerte posicionamiento, asegurando un segmento concreto de mercado; ha conducido a un aumento de la necesidad de obtener datos sobre la viabilidad de la implementación de técnicas de marketing que incorporen opciones Decoy. La finalidad es obtener rendimiento de la tendencia que actualmente presenta el mercado: la personalización del billete, "el billete a medida". Esta investigación es una contribución al desarrollo de estrategias de pricing que aprovechen la presencia de múltiples opciones en el conjunto de alternativas disponibles. Además, se comprueba la existencia de posiciones decoy inferiores que no producen efecto alguno sobre la opción target reforzando la idea de que los procesos que gobiernan los efectos contextuales, value shift y value added, se producen de manera simultánea y se compensan el uno al otro anulando el efecto del decoy.     This study proposes to analyze the relation between subjective success, the affective and continuance components of organizational commitment and the intention to leave the organization, in order to reflect the repercussions on organizational and individual levels. Despite the increasing importance of the organizational commitment and the relevance of subjective success in the current context of the professional careers, a gap exists in specialized literature. The hypotheses were tested by means of a structural equations model and it has been observed that individual perception of the success achieved in professional careers has a positive relation to affective commitment and a negative relation to employees’ continuance commitment. The relation between these two types of commitment and the intention to leave are those anticipated in the current literature. Finally, contextualising the present paradigm shift in psychological contracts and the profiles of a professional career, the implications of this study on human resources policies are considered and future lines of investigation are suggested

    El objetivo de este artículo es presentar evidencias empíricas sobre dos cuestiones aún abiertas en la investigación sobre el compromiso organizativo: la existencia de varios tipos de compromiso de continuidad, y la existencia de relaciones no lineales entre el compromiso, ciertos comportamientos organizativos y algunos indicadores clásicos de éstos como la intención de abandonar la organización. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio empírico en el que participaron 241 informantes, que permitió testear las hipótesis mediante el uso de regresión lineal jerárquica. Los resultados obtenidos confirman las relaciones entre compromiso afectivo e intención de abandonar previstas en la literatura, así como la existencia de dos componentes diferenciadas de compromiso de continuidad, y descartan la existencia de relaciones no lineales entre las dimensiones del compromiso y la intención de abandonar la organización. De los resultados del estudio se deduce que para reducir la rotación, los gestores de recursos humanos deben fomentar el desarrollo de compromiso afectivo y de continuidad en los empleados

    There has been little research examining the effects of individual career attitudes upon employees’ organizational commitment. Drawing on Briscoe and his colleagues (Briscoe & Hall, 2006; Briscoe, Hall, & DeMuth, 2006)’s research on protean and boundaryless careers, and on a QCA fuzzy set methodology (Ragin, 2000), the present study analyzes various career profiles as sufficient conditions for experiencing organizational commitment and examines necessary variables, in terms of career attitudes, that predict cer tain levels of affective and continuance commitment. Research results reveal that distinct combinations of the protean and boundaryless career delineations determine the same outcome (high or low affective and /or continuance commitment), thus implying equifinality

    Hasta la fecha, pocos estudios han examinado los efectos de las actitudes individuales de carrera profesional sobre el compromiso organizativo de los empleados. Por ello, el presente ar tículo se basa en las investigaciones de Briscoe y sus colegas (Briscoe & Hall, 2006; Briscoe, Hall y DeMuth, 2006) sobre las carreras proteicas y nómadas y en una metodología basada en lógica difusa (Ragin, 2000) con la finalidad de (1) analizar varios perfiles de carrera profesional como condiciones suficientes para experimentar compromiso organizativo y (2) examinar las variables necesarias, en términos de actitudes de carrera, que permiten predecir ciertos niveles de compromiso afectivo y de continuidad. Los resultados revelan que distintas combinaciones de las actitudes de carreras proteicas y nómadas determinan el mismo resultado (compromiso afectivo y/o de continuidad alto o bajo), lo que implica equifinalidad
