Abstract
A numerical model is presented to simulate the sediment transport and beach morphology in the swash zone. The model resolves the non-linear shallow water equations in an Eulerian framework and then solves the advection-diffusion equation for turbulence and suspended sediment in a Lagrangian framework. A laboratory experimental data set under solitary broken waves has been used to validate the model ability to simulate the sediment mass trapped at different cross-shore positions.
