Abstract
In this investigation spherical indentation tests are used for assessing the contact fatigue behavior of a fine-grained WC-Co cemented carbide coated with two distinct ceramic films: AlCrN and WC/C, either as monolayers or bilayers. Emphasis is placed on determining the indentation stress affiliated to the emergence of circular cracks at the coating, event found to be critical for the coated systems under consideration.
