Abstract
This paper presents the comparison study between a coupled Hydro-Mechanical (HM) and a mechanical (M) calculation of a sequential excavation for circular shafts. The sequential excavations are normally carried out with the water table lowering which leads to an unsaturated condition in the surrounding ground, affecting its geomechanical behavior.
