Abstract
Currently, there are a significan! number of power electronic converters operating at constan! power connected to the electrical grid and this situation is likely to proliferate further. This operation mode of the converters deviates from !he usual mode of operation of the traditional electrical devices and, in certain circumstances, may lead to stability problems in !he point of common coupling. Given this scenario, the projects objective is the appropriate modification of the control algorithms of static converters to help reduce or minimize !he adverse effects on the stability of the network while maintaining adequate operating characteristics in !he converters. That is, contribute to improving !he stability of !he grid with a mínimum affectation of !he normal function and operation of !he converters. To fulfil this objective, !he project intends to make theoretical developments in: AFC digital control, sliding mode control, adaptive and model reference adaptive/repetitive control and control of complex systems applied to electric power networks. These developments will specialize to mee! !he primary objective. In this sense, the project serves the dual purpose of providing solutions, implementable in power converters, to improve stability of the network and to obtain theoretical results in !he field of !he control techniques that are proposed to work.
Another objective of !he project is to ensure that the designed controllers will be interesting, by their complexity and their hardware implementation cost, for the industrial sector.
