Abstract
This study investigates the antecedents of work-life balance across four countries (France, Italy, Spain and New Zealand). While studies have shown the importance of work-life balance (WLB) on outcomes, few studies have examined the antecedents of WLB. Using SEM analysis on a sample of 870 employees, we found that work demands, the number of hours worked and family demands were negatively related to WLB, whereas job autonomy was positively related to WLB across the four countries.
