Abstract
In summer 2009 a sensitive CCD camera was installed in the Colombian island of San Andrés (12.5ºN, 81.7ºW) in order to observe transient luminous events (TLE) in the Caribbean. This area is home to some of the most active thunderstorms in the world, which occur during a large part of the year and often continue virtually non-stop for days.
