Multiprocessors based on the von Newmann processing style have some features that difficult a massive explotation of parallelism. As an alternative to this kind of systems, other processing styles have been proposed. These new styles have given rise to non von Newmann multiprocessors, whose most representative elements are data flow architectures and reduction architectures. In this work, we describe the most important points in relation to the design and programming of
this kind of systems.
