Abstract
Linguistic assessments involving imprecision are considered appropriate to grasp the hesitance and uncertainty which exists in human
reasoning when expressing preferences. In order to process this type of information for easier analysis and interpretation, the coordinated
project INVITE proposes the study of new metric spaces and new fusion and analytic techniques. In order to capture differences between
non-compatible assessments and preferences, new mathematical structures and metrics for linguistic assessments will be developed. This
will allow us to improve classifying, sorting, ranking and consensus models for decision aiding in small groups and social intearction.
Second, the coordinated project INVITE focuses its attention on the development and implementation of decision-making and innovation
processes for the management of leisure and culture in the ecosystem of the Smart City, both by local authorities and companies that offer
tourist services. The study of a citys lifestyles (for residents, tourists, and visitors) is crucial to understanding and interpreting their
preferences and interests in matters related to leisure, culture, and tourism. To this end, we will consider the use of multi-criteria decisionmaking
and social computing techniques for the generation and selection of ideas involving imprecise information.
Both the study of linguistic assessments structures and multi-criteria decision-aiding techniques fall within the area of information
technologies. Therefore the main part of the study will be centred on this area, moreover it will be oriented towards tourism management in
Smart Cities. Therefore, the study is framed in Challenge 7 of the Spanish scientific and technical research and innovation plan from 2013
to 2016: "Economy and Digital Society", which has the development of Smart Cities as one of its priority issues. In addition, the project
INVITE falls within the R&D projects concerned with competitive differentiation as tourism is considered a strategic sector in the Spanish
economy.
