Abstract
In this work the railway freight transportation network design problem is addressed taking into account a set of specific considerations. Products to be transported are classified into two groups: priority (e.g. perishable goods) and non-priority. The rail network is composed by yards and tracks. Trains are composed and decomposed at yards, and a subset of yards, the terminals, are origin or destination of goods. Each product can only be transported by a small subset of railcar types.
