Abstract
Finite difference (FD) methods for modeling acoustic wave propagation in large domains under a variety of boundary conditions, have contributed significantly to areas like seismic modeling, room acoustics, among others. Main attributes are their simple formulation and coding, fast calculations, and acceptable accuracy even in the presence of material heterogeneities.
