Abstract
The paper addresses the numerical simulation of strain localisation in stiff clays that exhibit softening behaviour. An elastoplastic constitutive model developed to incorporate key features of stiff clay behaviour is described first. A non-local formulation is then introduced for the regularisation of the analysis of localisation.
