Abstract
In this work, the effect of magnesium on the microstructure and mechanical behavior at high temperature of a cast Al-5Cu-0.15Zr-0.20V-0.22Ti alloy was investigated. The magnesium content was added in three amounts 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25%wt. The experimental alloys were obtained in an electric furnace at 800° C, addition of metallic magnesium, degassing and pouring in metal molds, then a T7 heat treatment was applied.
