Abstract
Consideration is given to an osmotic heat engine (OHE) driven by the cyclic precipitation of an aqueous solutions when an input of heat is applied or extracted from the solution. It is shown that owing to the dependence of the solubility with the temperature, the initial aqueous solution (after heated or cooled) can be physically separated into two streams with different salinities, namely, one enriched in solute and the other depleted in solute.
