Abstract
The aim of this paper is the calculation of the gain and the noise figure of a travelling wave optical amplifier (TWOA) in a situation where the saturation level is appreciable. Once the nonlinear equations that describe the light amplification process have been solved, we have obtained results that reflect the peculiar performances of an optical amplifier operating on non-linear regime.
