Abstract
In vehicular networks, the packet losses in the path between source and destination occur due to packet collisions, fast movement and a limited communication range of vehicles. Reliability mechanisms at different layers are used to mitigate the impact of this issue. In this work, we explain how the loss of ACK frames at MAC layer in conjunction with the recovery procedure of VANET routing protocols lead to an unexpected generation of duplicate packets.
