Abstract
Allelochemical compounds were detected in leaves and inflorescences of Sambucus nigra L. by means of GC-EIMS. The identified compounds were characterized by their mass spectra and relative retention times as their trimethylsilyl derivatives. The pheromone L-isoleucine methyl ester extracted from inflorescences can attract pollinator insects during the flowering period and together with uncommon n-alkyl and benzyl esters were firstly identified in S. nigra.
