Abstract
Simultaneous frequency and phase acquisition and tracking methods in very short data records are reviewed and studied from a maximum-likelihood (ML)-estimation point of view. The frequency estimate of Tretter and Kay (see A.J. Viterbi and A.M. Viterbi, 1983) is extended to a multiple-parameter estimate.
