This project is the continuation of project EDINSOST (MINECO - EDU2015-65574-R). It builds on the results of the previous project adding
the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the point of view of how to introduce in an effective and efficient way the SDGs
competences in Bachelor degrees of the Spanish University System.
Eight universities participate in the project are: UPC, EHU, UPM, UCM, US, USAL, UIC and UM, covering a wide spectrum of universities:
from public to private, from humanities and social Sciences to technological universities. 27 researchers from these universities are
participating in the project
The research is applied at seven Bachelor degrees (each one run at two different universities). The research degrees sample includes
three levels of incidence. First, a degree directly related to one of the three dimensions of sustainability (environmental, social and
economic): Bachelor in Business Administration and Management. Second, for its multiplier and long term effect two Bachelors of
Education Science: Pedagogy and Primary Education Teacher, since their graduates are the future teachers of the new generations of
citizens. Finally, covering the short-term effect, four technological Bachelors: computer engineering, telecommunications engineering,
design engineering and industrial engineering, for its great direct impact on the challenges of society.
The overall goal is to graduate students in the Spanish university system with the Sustainability and SDGs competences that our society
requires. This will be done through identifying what and how the SDGs competences should be teach/learn, and to develop and pilot
training for faculty and learning tools.
The general and specific objectives of the project are the following:
O1: Identify the SDGs in the EDINSOST' sustainability competency maps (SCM)
- O1.1 Introduce SDGs competences in the SCM
- O1.2 Describe how to implement the new SCMs in the curriculum of each degree
O2: Improve the learning outcomes of sustainability and SDGs in current degrees
- O2.1 To identify in detail how the Objective 1 SCM is currently being applied in each degree
- O2.2 To introduce and/or improve activities related to the SDGs in the courses
- O2.3 To carry out a comparative analysis of how the SCM is implemented before and after teacher training and follow-up
- O2.4 To analyse how sustainability and SDGs are implemented and assessed in the Bachelor Thesis (BT) and propose a framework for
introducing sustainability and SDGs in the BT
- O2.5 To analyse the cost of implementing the methodology proposed in this project in a new degree
O3: Faculty training in Education for Sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals
- O3.1 To map existing Open Educational Resources (OERs) in ESD and SDGs in Higher Education
- O3.2 To design and organise OERs to be used in teachers training
- O3.3 To design a face-to-face training workshop for teachers TTW
- O3.4 To conduct face-to-face training of project members
- O3.5 To carry out face-to-face teacher training of the degrees studied
O4: Analyse the learning in Sustainability and SDGs of students during their training at the university
- O4.1 Study the level of learning of the learning outcomes defined in the SCM in the students of each degree throughout the 4 years of the
- O4.2 To supervise the evolution of learning of a group of students in each degree during the four year of their studies
