based on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, energy savings and the use of renewable energies. For this reason, the so-called
"transitions" were defined, and one of them is the "energy transition" which, in turn, is strongly based on the use of smart grids and
The scope of this research project focuses on the development of collaborative microgrids for urban environments that may also apply to
rural areas, in the context of the energy transition and on a territorial scale covering up small towns.
This research project is based, as initial hypothesis, on a hybrid microgrid for the distributed production of electric power with photovoltaic
support, and the capacity to work in on-grid mode or in off-grid mode. The aforementioned microgrid will consist of commercial
components and equipments.
From this microgrid, "collaborative" indicators in microgrids are studied to develop collaborative microgrid topologies that allow better
performance in decentralized generation, distribution, and both economic and energy savings, and considering the concept of "active
consumer" or energy "prosumer".
The main objectives or general objectives of this proposal are the following:
1.- Required elements for the "collaboration" between electric-powered microgrids, from a logical and physical layer point of view (energy,
communication and control buses).
2.- The study of proposals and developments of collaborative microgrids architectures, with modeling of the proposed systems.
3.- Development of an adequate energy management system (EMS) for collaborative microgrids, simulating and characterizing its
functionality and performance in the laboratory.
4.- Study of real-time control possibilities, in order to achieve a higher level of performance and reach optimal processing and management
subsystems in electrical microgrids with cooperation capacity between them.
