Abstract
Cells polarize spontaneously due to internal biochemical reaction-diffusion pro-cesses. After polarization, cell motion is generated by the push on the membrane of the actin microfilament network. The attachment of the filaments at the membrane is controlled by proteins involved in the polarization process.
