Abstract
NEST is a European Open Innovation Test Bed (TB) ecosystem aiming to facilitate the cross-border partnership for accelerated innovation in nanotechnology-based productsused in intimate contact with human body. NEST will bring nanotechnologies from TRL 4 to TRL7 while demonstrating their performance through novel functional materials within the reach of companies and end users from three industrial sectors cosmeceuticals, medical devices and specialty textiles. The novel TB entity will offer open access to physical facilities and services for the development, testing and upscaling in industrial environment of surface nano-enabled functional materials and advanced cross-cutting technologies for their production. The main aim of this TB platform is to accelerate the development of novel nanotechnologies and products, offering to the customers competitive prices and support for the entire development process. Customers, in particular SMEs, will get access via a Single-Entry Point (SEP) a legal entity serving as the main contact and contractor of the TB - to novel and upgraded facilities, broad expertise and full support for the scale up from prototyping to industrial production, and marketing of high added value surface nano-embedded products applied at the interface with humans.
