Gold processing in artisanal mining in Peru and Bolivia is carried out by amalgamation with mercury or by cyanidation. The environmental and economic repercussions (degree of recovery) of both methods will be evaluated, taking into account the chemical and mineral composition of the ores and appropriate recommendations will be made to improve recovery, reduce environmental pollution and increase labour safety. In Bolivia, small-scale and artisanal mining of tin represents a fundamental axis in the economy. The Bolivian universities are in charge of advising for the development of the activity. In them. the research activities are limited, with a very small number of doctors. The research is aimed at improving the knowledge of the characteristics of the deposits of Sn and In of the Andean belt and its processing. This study will be carried out jointly with the PUCP of Peru and the UTO and 20th century University of Bolivia.
