Abstract
RC slabs can be subjected to transverse loads and in-plane tensile forces simultaneously, as it occurs in top slabs of continuous box girder bridges at intermediate supports, or in floor slabs supported on columns and subjected to horizontal forces, due to skew in-plane compressions. Tensile forces can reduce the punching capacity of the slabs, aspect not studied yet.
