Abstract
This project has as objective to develop an instrument to give information in real-time about accommodation and refraction of the eye in clinical
environments. For this purpose, the instrument should be compact and able to work as a stand-alone instrument or as a complement for being
adapted to instruments currently used in clinics to determine the refraction of the eye. To determine refraction and changes in accommodation, the instrument will be based in a Hartmann-Shack sensor. The instrument may be used to perform refractions without the use of invasive techniques when the use of cyclopegic drops are required, to measure accommodation after surgeries to implant intraocular lenses, to measure visual functioning disorders indicating visual fatigue and to self-assessments of myopia progres
