Virtual Calibration Chambers (VCC) are 3D-DEM models where cone penetration is simulated. They offer the possibility of substituting for the rather more expensive physical calibration chambers. One important issue in calibration chamber interpretation is the possibility of chamber size effect under different boundary conditions.
