Abstract
A family of multilevel block algorithms, called Multilevel Orthogonal Block (MOB) Algorithms, is proposed to exploit the data locality in linear algebra operations when executed in machines with several levels in the memory hierarchy. These algorithms have the advantage of simplifying the design of the algorithm (structure of the nested loops and size of the blocks) and result in a high reuse of the data in each of the levels of the hierarchy.
