Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical discussion and a logical framework for a generalised model of abduction. The classical definition about whether inferred rules are abductive or inductive appears to be very ambiguous. To avoid that problem, classical approaches to mechanise abduction reject the inference of rules by abductive means.
