In order to simulate a realistic scenario we have taken into account the presence of co-channel interference and spectrum limitations. The results show that with low order modulations, e.g. QPSK and 8APSK, the frequency packing schemes outperform in terms of spectral eciency conventional single carrier schemes with high modulation orders up to 32APSK. However, the experimental validation carried out with the DVB-S2 modulation and coding (ModCod) schemes reveals that there is a gap between the maximum achievable rates and the throughput. This result highlights that new ModCod schemes have to be designed, so that frequency packing schemes perform closer to the theoretical bounds.
